Hawkesbury ROCKLAND

Pierre Lemieux returns for second term

By Matthew Talbot

ROCKLAND – Conservative candidate Pierre Lemieux was assured a victory at 10:55 p.m. last night after Liberal candidate Dan Boudria conceded outside the River Rock Inn hotel.
In a brief comment, a dejected-looking Boudria admitted to conceding before heading off to his headquarters, also in Rockland, from which he had been absent all night.
At the time of Boudria’s concession, the two candidates were about 2,000 votes apart at the polls. By midnight, for Lemieux, that lead had grown to 5,000 votes. »

ROCKLAND

A difficult loss for Dan Boudria

By André Dumont

ROCKLAND – Wearing the name Boudria might not have been a good idea after all.
Dan Boudria was defeated in yesterday’s election, giving incumbent MP Pierre Lemieux a second term in Parliament.
Shortly before 11 p.m. Dan Boudria called Lemieux and conceded victory. He then faced his supporters at Flagstone restaurant in Rockland.
“We can be proud of the campaign we made,” Dan Boudria said. “We had an incredible team.” »

LACHUTE – Incumbent candidate Mario Laframboise of the Bloc Québecois is once again the Member of Parliament for Argenteuil-Papineau-Mirabel.  Fifty-one-year-old Laframboise has worked in the political sphere since 1988 and has represented his riding for the past eight years. The Bloc has held the riding for 15 years.  A mainly rural riding that is dominated by the tourism industry and the manufacturing and forestry trade, Argenteuil-Papineau-Mirabel remains a strongly-controlled Bloc riding.  »
